The architect behind Lumina Mare, Eraclis Papachristou, was inspired by Optical Art, particularly the work of British artist Bridget Riley, who uses repeating shapes and patterns to create movement and rhythm. Drawing from this artistic style, Eraclis designed the building’s façade to interact with sunlight in a way that reflects the vibrant energy of Larnaca, the town behind it.
Because the back of the tower faces Larnaca, it captures and bounces light throughout the day, creating a dynamic play of reflections. This dance of light and life inspired the name Lumina Mare — “lights of the sea”.
